The CommunityMatters initiative has consisted of a variety of features:
- The Essence of Los Alamos and White Rock was introduced in November 2007 and is published bi-monthly. Essence highlights member connections within our community and provides inexpensive marketing opportunities. Essence offers participating members the opportunity to advertise for the entire year for a small, one-time fee.
- The Chamber Going Green initiative recognizes member businesses that have made a commitment to sustainable practices.
- Videos promoting the benefits of local expenditures have been placed at the Reel Deal and on Comcast and on the web on YouTube The videos communicate the benefits of local expenditures for community life and for tax-funded infrastructure and services.
- fyiLA.com, a comprehensive portal serving the information needs of local area residents has been launched.
- We have initiated a consumer feedback process to gather and organize information that can help members improve their businesses and services. An online form for feedback is available at fyiLA.com. Individuals providing feedback are automatically registered for a periodic Chamber Check drawing.
- The Chamber facilitated a series of community dialogues addressing community preparedness for helping people deal with effects of LANL uncertainties.
- The 3/50 Project is a grass roots initiative that invites participants to support their local economies "three stores at a time." For more information on the 3/50 Project please read.
- The Los Alamos Chamber Coupon Book allows Chamber members to connect their offers with thousands of visitors, students, and new residents each year.
